Golden-headed Quetzal
Majestic
This bird, a member of the trogon family, can be found in the cloud forests of Ecuador.
In the sun their plumage glows a beautiful metallic green. Plants at these elevations turn red to help
prevent damage to the sun. This is the first sculpture where I used a new technique of creating iridescence.
This multi step process was the result of several years of studying how these feathers interact with light
and trying to replicate those effects with various paints and textures.
